Dr. David Palmer of St. Croix Orthopaedics (SCO) recently completed an extensive hip arthroscopy study, "Midterm Outcomes in Patients with Cam Femoroacetabular Impingement Treated Arthroscopically," which was recently published in a prestigious medical journal, Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthoscopic and Related Surgery, Vol 28, No 11 (November) 2012: pp 1671-1681.

In hip arthroscopy, surgeons use an instrument called an arthroscope to examine and treat the inside of the hip joint. It is used to evaluate and treat certain problems affecting the hip joint and the space outside the hip joint known as the greater trochanteric bursa.

As William (Bill) Franke and his daughter approached the summit of Quandary Peak(elevation 14,265 feet) near Breckenridge, Colorado, they knew this Labor Day hike was one they would remember forever. They had been hiking a 14'er in Colorado every Labor Day for years, but this hike had special significance. Bill had a Birmingham hip resurfacing procedure only 13 weeks prior to their hike on June 3, 2009.

Surgeons with St. Croix Orthopaedics (SCO) will be the first in Minnesota and western Wisconsin to perform knee surgery using a new procedure, Biomet's Signature™ knee, which utilizes MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) to create custom positioning guides for use in total knee replacement surgery.
